A Day at the Market

I was inspired to create this work of art after the many years I spent in South Korea.  The traveling markets were fascinating, filled with people from around the region, they would move from city to city often only visiting for only one day every two weeks.  Just about anything imaginable could be found in some of these markets (even a good luck tiger penis, which one man tried very hard to sell to me).  The smell of fruit was delicious but the fish, well it smelled like fish.  The clothing, blankets, and jewelry are beautifully arranged, but then you'll see something and you're not sure if you even want to know what it really is.

In this sculpture I wanted to portray some of what I saw in the markets of South Korea and the women who work so hard to support themselves and their families.
